Timothy Stohlberg
Pastor
Tim Stohlberg has ministered at
Hilltop since September, 1999. Prior to coming to Cromwell, he served the
Evangelical Covenant Church of New Sweden, Maine.
Ordained by the Evangelical
Covenant Church in 1996, Pastor Tim is a 1994 graduate of North Park
Theological Seminary. In addition to North Park, he also did course work
at Yale Divinity School and Luther Seminary. Prior to seminary, he worked
at Klingberg Family Center, New Britain, CT. and in the hangars for
Northwest Airlines, where he has the distinction of falling out of the
nose gear of a DC -10.
Passionate about biblical
preaching, Pastor Tim believes that his calling as a preacher and teacher
is to help people experience ancient text as living Word, with the power
to bring hope and transformation to people individually and corporately.
He does this through faithful, imaginative engagement with a text. While
he is traditional, he finds within the tradition the freedom to be
spontaneous and even from time- to - time a bit goofy. In his time at
Hilltop Pastor Tim has also helped the church take steps toward becoming
more environmentally aware. These steps include organizing cleaning days
along the Connecticut River, the use of more “green” cleaning products and
changing out the church’s antiquated light fixtures for more energy
efficient ones. These efforts resulted in the church receiving a 2006
Green Circle Award from the Connecticut Department of Environmental
Protection.
Along with his wife Marcia, he
has four (4) great children and an equally great dog. For fun he watches
sports, hikes, picks apples with his wife, snowshoes and loves to spend
time in and on the water. Now all he needs to make life perfect is a
tractor and four-wheel drive pickup!
